WE HAVE A NEW HOME.
AUG 07
Although we still have some more building to do we are now in!! All our birds have been moved and we are up and running again. The courses are going well and we have some new volunteers. It has been hard work this year but anything worthwhile always is, we are looking forward to the next hunting season so we can have the odd day off (like that’s gonna happen).Currently we are in middle of training some new birds ready for the next season, so as they say no rest for the wicked. Hope to see you soon!
FEB 07
We are currently re-locating our birds to Askham Bryan Agricultural College just off of the A64. We will be running falconry courses, experience days from here as well as using it as a base for flying displays, as soon as I get some photo’s of the new place I will post them in the Gallery.
THE RETURN OF ELLIE
SEPT 06
As some of you will be aware we have been in the news this week, or to be more precise ELLIE our female European Eagle Owl has. She went missing in April this year and despite being a very large example of an Eagle Owl has not been seen since, as we thought, but when Michelle a friend of ours spotted an article in the York Press saying a large Owl had been spotted in a village nearby we new it could only be our Ellie, so armed with food and lure’s and nets and perches and anything else we could get in the car we set off to try to find her.
The first thing we did on arriving in the village was to ask the locals if they had seen her, just about everyone in the village had either seen her in a tree or in their garden, some even said they knew of people stroking her. Unfortunately our luck wasn’t as good as theirs so after a good few hours we went home alone.
Things were to change the next day as I had a call about 3pm saying she was in someone’s garden so off we set again, I must admit I wasn’t very hopeful about getting her back, but when we got there and saw it really was Ellie and she started calling to me I thought you never know. After about only 20 minutes of calling to her and whistling to her, she flew down to the ground near my feet. 2 minutes later she was sat on my fist like she had never been away. So as they say all’s well that ends well. I would just like to say a BIG thank you to everyone in Wilberfoss near York for all the help and phone calls, we couldn’t have done it without you. THANKS.
